Welcome to my personal blog “Chem & Resonance”

For me, learning to understand music follows the routine of learning about basic music theories, understanding the emotions embedded within pieces by composers, and eventually blending in personalized emotions within performances. This is a process in which I transform from passively accept interpretations to making my own interpretations.

I sensed a similar process when I try to understand how chemistry works. It starts from understanding basic reaction mechanisms to understanding how minute differences makes different materials unique macroscopically. I want to build this channel as a mini encyclopedia of basic information and interesting facts of chemical materials. Unlike music, which can be perceived with our senses, chemical materials are more obscure to majority of viewers. So I blend in music for every episode to make “personified” characteristics of chemical materials. I hope this design can make chemical traits more understandable and more accessible to more readers.

Let’s get started!

ABOUT ME

微信图片_20260812155710_149_1165.png

Hey! I' m Eason.

My world is shaped by three:

Nature,

The realm where marvels spark and enigmas beckon,

The cradle where curiosity takes root and inspiration blooms,

The sanctuary where I, the thinker, pursue the unseen;

Science,

The language through which mysteries are unveiled and discoveries take form,

The discipline where questions transform into knowledge and imagination becomes understanding,

The journey through which I, the explorer, illuminate the unknown;

And music,

The symphony where emotions resonate and stories transcend words,

The art through which harmony emerges from complexity and beauty arises from patterns,

The voice through which I, the player, weave harmony.

Chemistry and Society: A Water Quality Testing Project

This is an interactive map. After three months of on-site sample collection, I created this water quality monitoring map that allows you to look up data for all districts across Shanghai. Let’s click and explore the aquatic environment around us!

Click on a marker on the map to view the water quality monitoring data I collected from different waterways across Shanghai.
